Tauhan ng PGH, pilit na pinatayo ang isang Lolo at kinandado pa ang mga upuan para walang makagamit!
All over the world, Filipinos pride themselves for being respectful towards the elderly. That being said, it’s ultimately disheartening to hear reports and abuse of senior citizens, just like what this hospital staff did to an 80-year-old man.
People on social media are calling out the staff of a public hospital for its unjust treatment of an elderly man. According to a vigilant citizen, the 80-year-old man accompanied his 75-year-old wife in a public hospital for a check up.
The unnamed public hospital mandates a ‘1 chair, 1 patient’ rule.
Although this rule is practical when the hospital is packed with people, there are some situations where it has to be reconsidered.
Instead of letting the 80-year-old man sit in a monobloc chair, the hospital staff strictly followed their regulations and took away the elderly man’s seat. This left him with no choice but to stand against the wall while waiting for his sick wife.
What’s more infuriating is that there’s a stock of unused monobloc chairs sitting idly nearby. Despite this, no one offered to let the old man sit.
This unjust incident extremely ruffled the feathers of the vigilant citizen–prompting him to post the incident online.
People on social media were equally triggered with this incident, especially since we have a law covering proper treatment of senior citizens.
To protect senior citizens’ rights, the government mandated laws to improve their state of living. Republic act no. 9994, or the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 aims to:
“Adopt measures whereby our senior citizens are assisted and appreciated by the community as a whole.”Hopefully, the hospital’s upper management will investigate this incident and reprimand the staff who allowed this to happen.
