The real value of this item was lower when this netizen scratched beneath the surface; literally. It was a lesson-learned by a netizen who found out the original value of an item that she had bought at a well known store in Mall of Asia last Wednesday. The shopper’s name was Cha-cha who had happily picked-up an item that had a red-tag that meant it was supposed to have a discounted price. Apparently, the red tag was a deception and it was a “fake discount.” When Cha-cha scratched it off, she was surprised that the item was only priced at PHP 334.75 pesos and she paid PHP 449.75.
Chacha expressed her disappointment on social media and included the evidence. She wrote:
The post created a buzz over social media and had caught a lot of attention from netizens. here are some of their comments:
Although many are speculating that the store used the red tags to promote more sales with the claim that the items have been discounted from their original prices, we may not have the entire story here. This “fake discount” could simply have been a stocking or inventory error. However, if it turns out that the store truly was manipulating the buying habits of the public by advertising discounted prices and not actually providing discounts, the establishment might be scrutinized in the future for its consumer deceiving practices.
Cha-cha publicly posted an update on Facebook that the assistant manager of the store has called her and setup a meeting to address the issue.
