Due to the difficulty of life in the Philippines, many Filipinos choose to work in another country to try their luck and hoping to sustain the needs of their families back in the Philippines.
The Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) endure the pain of being separated from their loved ones in order to give their needs.
A sacrifice of an OFWs was perfectly illustrated by this little girl's spoken word poetry performance.
"OFW"... This is the title of the spoken poetry of a grade five student named Akeelah Julia Dela Cruz from San Jose Elementary School in Rodriguez, Rizal. She cited the poem front of her teacher and her classmates.
Akeelah's Teacher, Ma'am Edz captured her performance and later posted it on Facebook hoping that Akeelah's father gets to see it. The viral video gained more than 1.5M views, 24k Reactions, 54k Shares and 5.9k Comments as of writing.
Akeelah's Teacher did not expect that her Facebook post will became viral.
Her poem was about the longing she felt as her father, Michael Dela Cruz has been for more than two years. OFW like her father deserved an appreciation due to the heavy price they pay just to give them a better life.
Her performance moves many netizens to tears in the Social Media.
