Thousands of people on social media were absolutely stunned after seeing the miraculous apparition of Jesus Christ in the clouds last Easter Sunday. Since this incident coincided with the Easter holiday, which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, many devotees were convinced that this was proof of divine work.
The controversial photos, which has been the subject of online debate, was shared on Facebook by a woman. In the image, the face of Jesus Christ can be seen ‘peeking’ on the clouds, as if watching the people below. The woman claimed that the photo was not edited or altered in any way.
As expected, the photos immediately went viral on Facebook. As of writing this, more than 12,000 people have shared the post and were convinced with its message.
Is this undeniable proof of divine work? Or can this phenomenon be explained by science? Apparently, just like everything that exists in the world, there’s a probable explanation behind this.
People who expressed their skepticism with the religious explanation attributed the miraculous apparition of Jesus Christ to a simple psychological phenomenon known as Pareidolia. This condition causes people to observe patterns and images on random things.
Pareidolia can be commonly observed in chipping paint, flowers, ink, clouds, and many more. It’s common to observe faces and even bodies in those random objects.
In the past, many ‘miraculous’ apparition has been attributed by pareidolia as well. Based on a report from Live Science, the famous ‘Shroud of Turin‘ in 1898 and the controversial ‘face’ on Mars in 1976 were considered examples of pareidolia.
