A Chinese man named Feng Ning who is a 23 year old former soldier, attempted to catch a falling woman from 11th floor of a building in Enchi City in Central China's Hubei Province.
It was a typical night for him. However, he did not know that he will come face to face with life and death at night. As he was leaving a restaurant and was walking past the building he heard screams of a woman from the upper floors of the building asking for help.
After hearing screams, he looked up and he saw a falling person that was about to hit the ground.
Feng Ning, immidiately sprung into action and attempted to catch the woman with his arms to break the fall but the impact was so great that he was knocked down. The former soldier was crushed by the powerful force of the falling person and was rushed to the nearest hospital.
Unfortunately, despite of the heroic efforts of Feng Ning, the woman was pronounced dead despite resuscitation efforts.
Mr. Feng, dislocated his right shoulder and injured his knee cap. Three out of four ligaments of the his knee was torn.
According to Dr. Li Yanbing of the spinal surgery department at the Enshi Central Hospital, “He was knocked out by the impact and suffered injuries on his knee joints, and had a tibial plateau fracture. His anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments and the medial ligament have been dislocated."
Due to his heroic act, Mr. Feng is being hailed as a hero by many locals.
The incident reportedly took place on December 23, 2015 at Chongwen Square.
